OUR METHODOLOGY

Unitraf conducts traffic surveys with video recordings of required locations. Our mobile recording systems have been tried and tested, robust for all weather conditions. The mobile power supply units and recording equipment is serviced regularly to ensure maximum reliability.

Our site installation teams are well trained surveillance technicians, installing our mobile video recording system prior to the survey and schedules the systems to record the required survey periods as specified by our clients. The video frame is checked to ensure all movements are recorded and that the origin and destination can be traced.

Our site teams utilise lifting equipment and ladders to install our recording systems. Personnel are trained on “Working at Heights” according to required standards in order to determine and mitigate risks. Our aim is to avoid having any personnel on site during surveys.

Video is collected and prepared for data processing. Our data analysts will start processing the video utilising our Uniturn™ software suite specifically designed for the Traffic and Transportation Engineering industry and their requirements.

Upon completion of data processing a number of strategic intervals will be selected and QC counts will be performed by different analysts as part of our quality assurance and control measures. This process assists with identification of data discrepancies and to check that results are within an acceptable tolerance range. Once the QC data is verified, data reports will be generated via VBA Macro scripts.

Accuracy of video technology-based methods and software assisted data analysts cannot be compared to that of manual enumerators and site surveying personnel. The implementation of video technology-based methods reduces operational errors and challenges which directly influences the integrity and accuracy of survey results.
